How to: EXIF Viewer

  1. Upload one or more photos.
  2. Review camera, date, settings and GPS location.
  3. Download the metadata as CSV or switch to removal mode.

Every photo from a phone or camera carries hidden details: which device took it, the exposure settings, when it was taken and often exactly where. Photographers use EXIF to learn from their settings, journalists and researchers use it to check where and when an image was captured, and everyone should know what they share. This viewer reads the metadata without uploading your photos.

Common uses

Tips for best results

What the viewer reads

JPEG EXIF and XMP blocks, PNG text and eXIf chunks and WEBP EXIF chunks are parsed directly from the file bytes. Fields include camera make and model, lens, exposure, aperture, ISO, focal length, flash, orientation, software, artist, copyright and GPS latitude, longitude and altitude.

GPS on the map

When coordinates are present they are converted to decimal degrees with a link to OpenStreetMap, so you can see the place in one click. The map opens only if you click the link.

Frequently asked questions

What is EXIF data

EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is information that cameras and phones save inside photos: camera make and model, lens, exposure settings, date and time and often the GPS location where the photo was taken.

Why does my photo show no metadata

Many apps and social networks remove EXIF data when you upload or send a photo. Screenshots and edited images often have little metadata too.

Is EXIF Viewer really free?

Yes. Every tool on Fileopia is 100% free with no file limits, no sign-up and no watermarks. The site is supported by unobtrusive ads.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Fileopia processes your files directly in your browser using JavaScript. Your documents never leave your device, so they stay completely private.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Fileopia works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, Mac and Linux.
