How to: WOFF2 to TTF Converter
- Select one or more WOFF2 font files.
- Keep TTF selected (or switch to another format).
- Click Start and download the fonts plus a ready @font-face snippet.
WOFF2 is the modern web font container from Google’s Brotli-based compressor – typically 30% smaller than WOFF and 50–70% smaller than TTF. TrueType (TTF) is the desktop font format with quadratic outlines, installable on Windows, macOS and Linux. Fileopia converts between them losslessly in your browser using the same open-source woff2 library Google Fonts uses, and writes the @font-face CSS for you.
Common uses
- Install a web font on your computer to use it in Word, Figma or Photoshop mock-ups.
- Convert an entire family in one batch.
- Prepare fonts for WordPress, Shopify or Webflow uploads.
- Check exact file-size savings before deploying.
Tips for best results
- Serve WOFF2 first and WOFF as a fallback only if you must support very old browsers.
- Use font-display: swap to avoid invisible text while fonts load.
- Preload the one or two fonts used above the fold.
- Keep the original TTF/OTF as your master copy.
How the conversion works
A font is a set of tables (glyf or CFF outlines, cmap, kern, GSUB/GPOS and more). WOFF compresses each table with zlib; WOFF2 additionally transforms the glyph data and compresses the whole font with Brotli. Fileopia decodes the container back to the raw tables and re-encodes them in the target format, so nothing about how the font looks or behaves changes.
Compared with online converters
Sites like CloudConvert, Convertio and Transfonter upload your font to a server and often limit free conversions per day. Here the font never leaves your device, conversion is instant and unlimited, and you get CSS too.

Frequently asked questions
Is WOFF2 to TTF conversion lossless?
Yes. Font tables are re-packed, not redrawn: glyph outlines, hinting, kerning and OpenType features are kept exactly. TrueType fonts stay TrueType and CFF fonts stay CFF.
Are my fonts uploaded?
No. Conversion happens on your device, which matters for licensed and unreleased fonts.
Can I convert many fonts at once?
Yes – select a whole family; you get a ZIP and CSS for each weight.
Is converting a font legal?
Converting a font you have the rights to is usually fine, but many commercial licences restrict web embedding. Check your EULA. Open-source fonts (OFL, Apache) can be converted freely.
Why does my WOFF2 become .otf instead of .ttf?
The output keeps the original outline type. A WOFF2 made from a CFF font becomes .otf; converting CFF to TrueType curves would be lossy, so we don't fake it.
Does it subset or change the font?
No – the full character set is kept. Subsetting is planned as a separate tool.
Can I convert EOT or SVG fonts?
Not yet – those formats are obsolete for the modern web.
What about variable fonts?
Variable fonts convert fine; all axes and named instances are preserved.
Is WOFF2 to TTF Converter really free?
Yes. Every tool on Fileopia is 100% free with no file limits, no sign-up and no watermarks. The site is supported by unobtrusive ads.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Fileopia processes your files directly in your browser using JavaScript. Your documents never leave your device, so they stay completely private.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. Fileopia works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, Mac and Linux.
