Why this PDF to Word converter is different

Most PDF to Word converters ask you to upload your document to a remote server, wait in a queue and then download the result. That is fine for a flyer, but not for a contract, a payslip, a medical letter or a thesis draft. Fileopia does the whole conversion inside your browser tab. The PDF is parsed with PDF.js, the text runs, fonts, images and tables are rebuilt into a real .docx file, and the file is handed straight back to you. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Being local also removes the usual limits. There is no daily task counter, no 'upgrade to convert more pages' banner and no watermark. The only limit is the memory of the device you are using – a modern laptop handles documents of several hundred pages comfortably.

Flowing text or exact layout – which should I pick?

Choose Flowing text when you want to edit the document: rewrite paragraphs, fix a CV, update a report or copy sections into another file. Lines are joined into paragraphs, headings are detected from font size and weight, multi-column pages are read in the right order and ruled tables become real Word tables. Text reflows naturally as you type.

Choose Exact layout when the document must look identical to the PDF – forms, brochures, certificates or anything with a designed layout. Every line is placed at its original position, so the page looks the same in Word, but editing large blocks of text is less convenient because each line lives in its own box.

If you are unsure, try Flowing text first; the conversion takes seconds, so comparing both costs nothing.

Converting scanned PDFs with OCR

A scanned PDF contains pictures of pages rather than text, so an ordinary converter produces an empty Word file or a document full of images. With OCR set to Auto, Fileopia checks each page: pages that already have a text layer are converted directly, and image-only pages are recognised with Tesseract running in WebAssembly. Choose All pages to force recognition everywhere, for example on a PDF that has a poor hidden text layer.

For the best OCR results scan at 300 DPI, keep pages straight and pick the document language before you start. Recognition happens on your device, so a 20-page scan may take a minute on a phone – but your document never leaves it.
