How to: Split PDF

  1. Select the PDF you want to split.
  2. Enter page ranges like 1-3,5 or leave empty to split every page.
  3. Click Start and download the resulting PDF(s) as a ZIP.

Splitting lets you pull out just the pages you need – one chapter, one invoice, one signed page – instead of sending a whole document. With Fileopia the split happens locally, so large or sensitive PDFs stay on your device.

Every way to split a PDF, in one place

Splitting sounds simple, but people mean very different things by it: pulling out one chapter, separating a scanned stack into individual invoices, sending only the signed page, or breaking a huge file into e-mail-sized parts. Fileopia covers all of these, and does it in your browser so the document is never uploaded.

Which mode should I use?

Lossless and private

Splitting copies the original page objects into new PDFs – nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed, so text stays selectable, vector graphics stay sharp and images keep their quality. Links, form fields and fonts on the copied pages are kept.

Because the work happens locally, there is no waiting for an upload of a 200 MB scan, no hourly task limit like Sejda's 3 tasks per hour, and no copy of your bank statement or medical record on somebody else's server.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Enter a single range such as 2-4 to get one PDF containing only those pages.

How do I extract just a few pages from a PDF?

Choose 'Select page ranges', type the pages such as 2-4, 9 and click Split. You can get each range as its own file or all together.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied as they are, without re-compressing, so text and images look identical to the original.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The split runs in your browser and the file never leaves your device.

Can I split a PDF into equal parts?

Yes. Use 'Every X pages' and enter how many pages each part should have.

How do I split a PDF to fit an e-mail size limit?

Use Split PDF by size and set a maximum such as 10 MB; each part will stay under it.

Can I split by chapters?

Yes. Split PDF by bookmarks creates one file per bookmark (chapter) automatically.

Is there a page or file limit?

No. There are no hourly limits; very large files only depend on your device's memory.

Will links and form fields still work?

Yes, links and form fields on the copied pages are kept.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

If you know the password, unlock it with Unlock PDF first, then split.
