How to: DV Lottery Photo Checker & Resizer
- Select your portrait photo.
- Align head between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inches (50% to 69% total height).
- Download the validated 600×600 px JPEG for electronic submission.
Passport studios charge a surprising amount for a few seconds of work, and online services often want your face on their servers. This maker turns any well-lit phone photo into a correctly sized passport, visa or ID picture at 300 DPI. Choose a country preset, line your head up with the guide, and download a single digital photo or a sheet ready to print at a pharmacy, photo kiosk or at home.
Common uses
- Renew a passport without paying for studio photos.
- Prepare a visa photo for an online application such as a Schengen, US or Chinese visa.
- Print several copies on a 4×6 inch sheet for driving licences, student cards or gym memberships.
- Make a consistent headshot for company ID badges.
Tips for best results
- Stand about a metre from a plain white or light grey wall and face a window for even light.
- Ask someone else to take the photo at eye level rather than taking a selfie, which distorts the face.
- Keep a neutral expression, both eyes open and hair away from your face.
- Print sheets at “actual size” or 100% scale – never “fit to page”.
Getting the head size right
Most authorities measure the head from the chin to the top of the hair. For 35×45 mm photos the head usually needs to be 29–34 mm tall, and for the US 2×2 inch format it must be between 1 and 1 3/8 inches. The red dashed oval on the preview marks a typical head area. Use the zoom slider until your face fills the oval, then nudge the photo up or down so the eyes sit roughly in the upper half. The guide is not saved in the download.
Digital uploads versus printed photos
Online applications, such as the UK passport service or many e-visa portals, ask for a digital file instead of prints. The single-photo option gives you a high-quality JPG at 300 DPI, which you can upload directly or resize if the portal sets a pixel limit. For printed photos choose a 4×6 inch sheet, the standard size at photo kiosks worldwide, or A4 / Letter for home printers. Thin grey guides help you cut the copies straight.
Privacy for identity photos
Your face is biometric data. Everything here – decoding, cropping and building the print sheet – happens in your browser, so the photo is never uploaded or stored. Close the tab and nothing remains.
