Tips for best results
OCR for six Indian scripts
One tool for Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali. It reads printed text from photos, screenshots and scanned PDFs with the Tesseract engine inside your browser and returns standard Unicode text or a searchable PDF. Pick the language from the list; add English as a second language for pages that mix scripts.

Getting good results
- Scan at 300 DPI or take sharp, straight, evenly lit photos.
- Crop to the text; remove borders and photographs.
- Straighten crooked pages first with Deskew PDF.
- Proofread names, numbers and dates – OCR can confuse similar-looking letters.
Limits
Printed text only: handwriting and decorative fonts are unreliable, and the text output does not keep columns or tables. Very large scans are limited by your device's memory; use the page range to work in parts.
Private by design
Files never leave your device. After the page and the language model load, the tool also works offline.

Your files never leave your device
Indian Language OCR runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files are read from your disk into this tab, processed in memory and saved straight back to your downloads folder – they are never uploaded to Fileopia or any third party.
- Test it yourself: once this page has loaded, switch off Wi‑Fi or mobile data and run the tool – it keeps working.
- Check the network: open your browser’s developer tools (F12 → Network) while processing; you will see no file upload requests.
- Nothing to delete: close the tab and the data is gone – there is no server copy, no retention period and no account.
