- Paste or type your text.
- Choose the source and target languages.
- Click Translate and copy the result.
A translator that does not read your text on a server
Paste text, choose a language and translate it right in your browser. The translation is done on your device by the translator built into Chrome or by a small open model that is downloaded once and cached. Because nothing is sent to a server, it is safe for private messages, contracts and work documents.
How to use it
- Paste or type the text.
- Leave the source on Auto-detect or choose it; choose the target language.
- Click Translate. The first run for a language pair downloads its model (≈110 MB) once.
- Copy the translation or download it as a text file.

Quality and limits
This is machine translation by small on-device models: good for understanding and drafting, not for publishing without review. Names, numbers, idioms and technical terms can be wrong, and each sentence is translated on its own. Chrome's built-in translator is used first when it supports the pair; otherwise Opus-MT models are used. For documents, use Translate PDF.
Why a download the first time?
Real translation needs a trained model, and a model is a large file. Instead of calling a paid cloud API, the page fetches a ≈110 MB model once and keeps it in your browser's cache; later translations run immediately, even offline. Pairs without English use two models.

Frequently asked questions
Is the translation done on my device?
Yes. The text is extracted in your browser and translated either by the translator built into Chrome or by a small open model (Opus-MT) that is downloaded once and runs in the page. Your document is not sent to a server.
Which languages are supported?
Any browser: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Ukrainian, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Swedish, Finnish, Danish, Czech, Hungarian and Romanian (English → Romanian), plus translation from Portuguese, Polish, Turkish, Japanese, Korean and Thai into English. Chrome on desktop adds Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi and more through its built-in translator. Malayalam is not available.
How big is the download?
The on-device model is about 110 MB for each direction (a pair that does not include English uses two models, because English is the pivot). It is cached by your browser, so the next translation starts immediately. Chrome's built-in translator downloads its own small language pack.
How good is the translation?
Good enough to understand a document and to draft from, not good enough to publish unchecked. The open models are small: names, numbers, idioms and technical terms can be wrong, and very long sentences may be shortened. Always review important translations.
Is there a text length limit?
No fixed limit. The text is split into sentences and translated one at a time on your device, so long texts simply take longer – roughly a second per sentence.
Can I translate between two non-English languages?
Yes, where both languages are supported. With the on-device model the text goes through English (two models); Chrome's built-in translator may handle some pairs directly.
Is Translate Text really free?
Yes. Every tool on Fileopia is free to use with no account required and no watermarks; practical file limits vary by tool and device. The site is supported by unobtrusive ads.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Fileopia processes your files directly in your browser using JavaScript. Your documents never leave your device, so they stay completely private.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. Fileopia works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, Mac and Linux.
